Waterfalls
Adding a waterfall can change the atmosphere of your pool, achieving looks anywhere from from “jungle lagoon” to “sophisticated chic.”
Create a natural hot springs environment complete with a waterfall, boulders and plantings. Divert the water flow into two or three streams, and vary the drop heights of each one, to create a relaxing aquatic harmony effect. Extend your waterfall out over the pool to create a small hollow where swimmers can duck behind the curtain of falling water.
For a more dignified and sophisticated atmosphere, try a masonry wall built with your choice of stone, for a sheer drop of water to flow down. Enjoy this clean look with the tranquil sound of water in the background.
A Poolside Water Wall
Add privacy and elegance to your pool with a water wall. If your pool is surrounded by a fence, choose one side to transform in your preferred style. Use tempered glass for a sleek and sheer look, or a stacked stone veneer for a more dynamic and natural appearance. If your wall is situated at the pool’s edge, allow the water to drain right back into the pool. Alternatively, consider using a catch basin as an extra element of landscaping and to catch water splashed out of the pool.
Laminar Jets
Laminar jets add an artistic flair to your pool by creating graceful arcs of water that shoot into the pool. While the sound of the jets falling into the pool is more subdued than the sound of a waterfall, you can still get endlessly creative with how you arrange them to land in the pool or cross each other in the air. Illuminate the jets at night to create an enchanting evening atmosphere.
Hot Tubs
A hot tub incorporates dimension into your pool area. Connect a hot tub to your pool with a spillover spa, or consider an adjacent hot tub to easily move between spaces. Elevate the hot tub to transform a flat area into a landscape with rising and falling features.
Water Slides
For pools frequented by kids, or adventurous adults, a water slide into the deep end will add a splash of fun to keep you poolside all day long! Slides come in all different sizes, and you can choose a shape that best suits your pool’s ambiance, including straight, curved or even a waterpark-style corkscrew.
Fountains
Use a fountain as a small or large feature in the atmosphere around your pool. Water pots come in many shapes and styles, and can be situated around the pool deck to accent the environment. Water from the pool can be pumped into the pots, and then filtered back into the pool as it either spills down or spurts up from jets inside the pots.
Landscape Lighting
Landscape lighting creates your choice of nighttime excitement or an idyllic tone for your evening pool enjoyment. Experiment with designs that feature warm or cool light, different colors of bulbs, and installations on dry land and underwater.
